Almost Summer

espadrilles are THE shoes for Summer, right ?

Longing for some proper holiday ... counting the days.

It seems like June is gonna last like for ever ; the only thing I still need to do is to hand over all my photo assignments and explain my work in front of a jury.

After that, I will call it quits for a month or 2 and will focus on nothing but my road trip to Italy and later on, attend a pool party or 2 in Ibiza.

Can't wait. 

Meanwhile, I've been doing some shopping to make sure I'm properly dressed for the beach or beach bar. This is going to be the best Summer ever !

Channeling ...

Never thought I'd see the day I would ever wear espadrilles again.

But haven't I seen many things come back in fashion again lately ? Oh yes, so bring it on .. 

I remember back in the 80-ies, when series like Miami Vice were in it's prime, being a teenager and experimenting with looks, hairstyles and fashion, that particular serie appealed to me because of it's high fashion contents. Don Johnson made espadrilles look hot ;the suit and rolled up sleeves + wayfarer might have helped too. I'm pretty sure we all bagged espadrilles in our suitcases for our Greek holiday that Summer : pink, aqua and stripes, you name it ! (marking polaroids to proof) 

The Céline ones are pretty much my favorites but I guess it will be much too late in the season to score a pair ; could have a chance in buying some in sale at Sandro's ; the python leather print looks sharp enough for me to team with my black skinny jean. Gonna check that out today ..

Nooit gedacht dat ik ooit nog espadrilles zou dragen.

Maar hebben we de laatste tijd niet vaak dingen zien terugkeren uit de jaren 80 ? Dus ok, kom maar op ..

In de jaren 80, wanneer series als Miami Vice hoogtij vierden en ik zelf een prille tiener was, herinner ik me nog dat ik juist die serie ontzettend cool vond omdat er best wel wat aandacht aan mode en looks besteed werd. Don Johnson maakte de espadrilles hot ; in combinatie met zijn linnen kostuums, opgerolde mouwen en wayfarer zag hij er ontzettend fashionable uit. Ik ben er zeker van dat we allemaal espadrilles in onze koffers hebben gepakt op weg naar onze Griekse vakantiebestemming ; bewijs, de talloze polaroids van diezelfde vakantie.

De Céline espadrilles vind ik het mooist maar ik vrees er voor nog een paar op de kop te kunnen tikken aangezien we al diep in het seizoen zitten. Een waterkansje bij Sandro ; de python lederprint vind ik ook echt wel ok om met een zwarte skinny jean te combineren. Dus toch maar eens op strooptocht gaan deze middag ..
