The other day when I shopped at Step by Step, it immediately struck me how nice this shop smelled.

Very subtle - almost softly embracing you like a warm Summer wind - I just had to know what caused this. I could've guessed actually ; Diptique is a French based candle and interior perfume brand, known for it's lovely candle holders and designs on it.

It's not a bargon, a Diptique candle but it's worth the price. 

While other candles might smell chemical or synthetic, these smell like heaven on earth.

Specially with Valentine's day in mind, you might consider purchasing one for a romantic evening with the love of your life.

Interior wishlist

We all have our fashion wish lists but once you own a home this list gets extended by must haves for your interior. In another life, I used to be a lighting consultant/architect for more than 10 years. Whenever I enter a design shop or space, I feel the love for beautiful design and light never left my brain. Je suis toujours enchantée.

Scandinavian design unconsciously always has had my preference as for lighting devices, it's the Italians I prefer. 

I've tried to capture through these pictures, some of the pieces that are still on my wish list. Maybe they never will make it into my home ; it needs to be right, in the right atmosphere and surroundings. 

It has to be l'amour à première vue.

What's on your wish list for your home ?

Steve Hiett photography

As a future photography student (starting in 2014) of course, my interest goes out to people who already earned their name in this art.

My favourite photographers are Erwin Olaf and Marc Lagrange.

I like their edginess as well as their use of colour and setting.

For me, they portray women in a sexy and feminine way without getting trashy.

Recently, I discovered Steve Hiett's work.

So I'm very very proud to say we just ordered a picture of him for our living space.

It's the 1st of 3 pictures shown above and it's called Avenue George V.

Can't be a coincidence it refers to a place in Paris ; I LOVE Paris.

But also love Steve's work. His pictures ooze vibrance, dept and mystery.

I want to hear people comment on this picture and tell me what their thoughts are.

I'm pretty sure many fantastic stories will be passed on and I can't wait to share them with you.

Who is your favourite photographer and why ?

HAY store in Antwerp !

I'm extremely happy HAY chose my hometown to open it's flagshipstore. The HAY store lies hidden away but that doesn't hold back customers to go inside and walk into to this loft inspired space.

I'm sharing some of my favourite items here ; next week I'll be posting some pictures of the actual store itself ! Stay tuned if you're into Danish design and minimalism.

Interior : kidsrooms, wallpaper and a nice project.

Before I had my own kids' shop and label, I worked as an interior designer for more than a decade.

My 2 co workers and I used to advice people on were they should envision lighting frameworks so their house, shop or office would be a place where they could play with light and ambience.

I really loved my job back then and it's still in me to help people out when they need to (re)-decorate a room. 

My friend Patrick wanted to make his house fun and a place where he would be embraced with peacefulness once his working day was over. He knew I had my experience as an interior advisor and decided to walk my way with some of my directions.

Pretty soon the last room will be finished and he offered me to take pictures of the final results. I'll keep you posted on my blog in a couple of weeks and I can't hide my own excitement in seeing the outcome.
