#chunky meets #comfy

It's been a while since I've done a style update ; so here we go .. sharing a couple of my daily faves with you guys.

As you might know by now, I'm a keen knitter but sometimes a bit lazy. Why knit it when it's available -70% ? You're on board with me, right ? 

I just love chunky boyfriend cardi's and I have a soft spot for stripes too. 

I found this knitted cardigan the other day, it was the last one hanging in store in size 2.

Slightly too big but hey, that's how oversized boyfriend jackets must be.

I teamed it with a silky navy blue blouse {thanks to Katrin, who suggested to wear something silk with any chunky sweater or jacket on Instagram ; makes you look less bulky} - my distressed boyfriend jean and my new whiter than white sneakers.

Hurray for non-muddy days.

Showing you my #ootd or style du jour today.

I really like wearing scarfs and hats but have to admit it's like Spring outside .. not really temperatures you would expect in January.

Also a special attention for my sweatshirt of the day ; it looks very similar to my ACNE oversized sweater but is easier to team with a narrow sleeved coat. 

Those ACNE sleeves are HUGE !

Can't wear it with a any decent coat (not even my oversized one) so this is a good plan B sweatshirt.

The best thing about Winter is the layering and mixing all kinds of fabrics and structures.

My oversized coat is made from a grained fabric, wool and lurex, to add some bling and a variable colour effect depending on how you look at it. 

Teamed with some fake leather army green trousers and my Charles Jourdan crocodile leather heels.

I've brought these babies home from Paris - they are timeless with a firm yet elegant heel.

My sheer top has some lace panels on the body and sleeves ; another hint towards the festive days to come.

The pieces I bought from the latest collab from H&M with Isabel Marant come in handy these days.

I can easily unite them with my older Marant items ; the Navajo style cardigan matches the leather pants just fine. I topped it off with my fringed silk scarf (also last year's) ; so crisp November cold doesn't scare me .. cold or rain does not mean you have to dress stodgy or sensible.

Wednesdays are for {Marant} Wedges

The moment you start wearing other than sandals or espadrilles, you just know. Fall is here to stay.

Weather conditions can change so fast down here ; I mean, last week it felt like high Summer  ; today it's coats with hoodies, stockings and Marant lace up wedges everywhere.

Not that I'm am in a melancholic mood or something ; even on Instagram pictures start to change from holiday resorts and bikini clad images into 'look at my new coat' and new collection FW 2013 shoes and booties. Fall is one of my favourite seasons and Indian Summers are much more welcomed by anyone than a heatwave. 

So, what am I wearing ?

My APC hooded raincoat - a sweater designed by Garance Doré for Marc 'O Polo - H&M skirt and Isabel Marant wedged sneakers.

Enough tigers in the house ; let's do some logo play.

Got this incredible soft sweater by Kenzo yesterday : team it with a cute nightblue skirt, Vanessa Bruno cabas and some Isabel Marant wedges.

Fall is unequivocally present this week : weather forecasts predict us rain, lots of rain and on top of that, some more rain.

Feels a bit strange to put on stockings again but rain and tanned legs somehowe don't match my style du jour. Oh well, a good reason to put on those newly purchased items.

Hope all moms had a flawless schoolrun ? I did and because I had to adapt back to my mundane life as a mother this morning, I picked this Isabel Marant dress because it's effortless and easy to combine with any shoe and bag. I really love the chiffon feel to it .. it's light and perfect for Indian Summer days.

Have to add these COS shoes are fab ! They have an 8cm heel and are perfect for running errands or quick walks in and out of school. If you need a heel for everyday events, classy and comfortable footwear, I highly recommend to check out your nearest COS store.

As my house photographer is still enjoying her mini break in Spain, I'm posting my style du jour outfits like this.
Got this fab blouse from Maje yesterday, perfect for this sunny weather and a mandatory day at work.
I try to get a look at what the sales offer frequently but I must admit I'm the worst bargain shopper ever. Always end up with something from the new collection !
The stuff I got yesterday says it all ; out of the 4 items I bought, 3 of them were new collection .. how bad is that ?
Am I the only one here or do you recognize this kind of shopping behaviour ?

Omdat mijn huisfotograaf nog altijd in Spanje zit, post ik mijn style du jour outfits even op deze manier.
Vond dit super tof bloesje bij Maje gisteren, perfect voor een verplichte werkdag met dit zonnige weer vandaag. Ik tracht altijd wat van de solden mee te pakken maar moet toegeven dat dit me niet erg goed lukt. Uiteindelijk kom ik altijd thuis met spullen uit de nieuwe collectie !
Zoals ook gisteren ; van de 4 items waren er 3 niet gesoldeerd ; hoe stom is dat ?
Ben ik nu de enige of gebeurt dat ook bij jullie ?

DIY selfie

My photographer (my daughter) is enjoying a girly Summer break in Spain as we speak : so I need to take the pics myself. 

Here I am wearing my ripped white jean again - a dark blue tank top (hard to see in this picture) - a silk bomber jacket by Antwerp based label Essentiel and my (old) Massimo Dutti wedge booties. 

I did not score any good deals yet, lacking the time but I did some online shopping and ordered me the cutest flats ; mintgreen and studs. Can't wait for the postman to ring my doorbell !

Omdat mijn huisfotograaf momenteel van een meisjesvakantie in Spanje geniet, moet ik mijn foto's zelf nemen. Hier draag ik opnieuw mijn witte gescheurde jean - donkerblauw Marcelleke (niet zichtbaar hier) en een zijden bomberjasje van Essentiel, gecombineerd met oude Massimo Dutti sleehak laarsjes. 

Heb nog niet de kans gehad om een goeie sale te scoren maar bestelde wel super mooie mintkleurige ballerina's met studs. Nu maar hopen dat de postbode snel aanbelt met een pakje !

blazer H&M - t shirt Givenchy - ripped jean H&M - shoes Zara - bag Delvaux

Went to Zaventem yesterday for a farewell drink of two co-workers. As the weather is still pretty unpredictable, it's hard to find a look that does not look to wintery or feels too hot the minute you walk into a crowded space. Blazers are a damn good 'in between seasons' jacket.
I got the blazer at H&M ; presale discounts force you to buy 2 items to get your stuff at a lower price.
I got the white shorts I wanted and added this blazer as a second piece. I'm quite happy with it. It's one of those things you overlook during the season and only notice at the start of the sales period. So, I teamed it with my white ripped jean and my Givenchy t shirt, Zara heels and my petite Madame Delvaux bag. 
So glad I picked the red one instead of dove.

Ik was in Zaventem gisteren voor een afscheidsdronk van enkele collega's. Omdat het weer nogal grillig is, is het soms moeilijk om niet te winters voor de dag te komen of in te veel laagjes zodat je haast wegsmelt in drukke ruimtes. Blazers zijn een goede oplossing voor de tussen seizoen periodes (ook al zou het nu volle bak zomer moeten zijn hèhè).
Ik vond het jasje bij H&M, per toeval eigenlijk, want in de sperperiode moet je minstens 2 stuks kopen om van een korting te genieten ; zo dus ook bij H&M. Ik vond het shortje dat ik al een tijdje op het oog had maar nooit kocht door het schrale weer en zag dit blazertje hangen in de overvolle rijen jasjes. Dat werd dus het 2de stuk. Gecombineerd met mijn gescheurde witte jean en mijn Givenchy t shirt, Zara schoenen en mijn kleine Madame handtas van Delvaux, trok ik richting Brussel gisteravond. Wat mijn handtas betreft, ben ik blij dat ik uiteindelijk rood verkoos boven het duivengrijs.

Style du jour ; what to wear on the hottest day of 2013 (so far)

I'm always finding it hard to figure out what to wear on a day where temps are predicted up to 34°C !

It's super easy when you know you'll be spending a day at the pool ; not (yet) the case as I'm spending my day at office. 

So the lightest of lightest blouse combined with my trademark skinny black jean. Flats and biker jacket .. and my new Delvaux bag !! What's your work/heatwave look ?

Ik vind het altijd ontzettend moeilijk om te kiezen wat ik moet aandoen wanneer er temperaturen van 34°C voorspeld werden. Gemakkelijk als je weet dat je de dag aan het zwembad doorbrengt : dit is (nog) niet het geval want ik werk nog bijna de hele zomer door. 

Het allerdunste bloesje koos ik uit de kast gecombineerd met mijn vast merk ; de zwarte skinny jean en platte schoentjes (geen zin in zere voeten vandaag). Dit combineren we dan met mijn mouwloos biker vestje en mijn nieuw rood handtasje van Delvaux. 

Wat is jullie stijl als je moet werken in deze hitte ?

Studded Tuesday

I never expected this but Forever 21 must be my favorite shop these last few months. It's a 3 floor store, so you need to take your time if you're looking for something particular. I try to browse their website first but they have SO much stock, it's almost impossible to find stuff by yourself. Luckily the shop assistants are all very helpful. And sometimes you bump into something that looks amazing ; llike this studded biker jacket. Even though is faux leather, it looks as if it has cost a fortune. Pimp it up with the right accessories and BAM .. ! Instant chic !

Nooit verwacht dat ik de Forever 21 winkel ZO leuk zou vinden ; de 3 verdieping tellende winkel is behoorlijk groot dus als je iets specifiek zoekt, heb je toch wel wat hulp nodig (zelfs al bekeek je hun website op voorhand). Gelukkig werken er allemaal super lieve meiden en kerels die je met veel plezier helpen zoeken. En soms, dan val je op iets dat er echt té gek uit ziet. Zoals dit nep lederen biker jasje met studs. Het ziet er duurder uit dan zijn prijs aangeeft en met de juiste accessoires, BAM .. nagel stud op de kop ! Instant chique ! 

Monochrome

Princess Caroline of Monaco once said ; if you don't know what to wear in the morning, pick a white blouse. A white blouse is always a good idea ! 

And how right she was. White brights up your face (even after a night of cocktail sippin'), makes everything you wear more classier. I'm in a monochrome mood lately. Goes perfect with my silver accessories (that we FINALLY can take out now a discrete tan is beginning to show) and brogues.

The brogues must have been my best buy this year ; they are über comfy, from day 1 !

Prinses Caroline van Monaco zei ooit ; als je niet weet wat aandoen 's morgens, neem een witte bloes. Een witte bloes is perfect voor elke gelegenheid.

En gelijk heeft ze ! Wit fleurt je gezicht op (zelfs na een lange nacht van cocktails OD), maakt elke outfit klassevoller. Ik bevind me in een monochrome fase. Perfect om met mijn zilveren accessoires te combineren (die we EINDELIJK kunnen gaan dragen nu mijn huid een gezonder tintje krijgt) met mijn zilveren veterschoenen. Die schoenen zijn mijn beste koop van 2013 tot hiertoe ; zo comfortabel, ze zaten makkelijk vanaf de eerste dag.
