Chanel Eau Tendre seen through my personal lens
I've decided to purchase a Chanel scent this weekend ; I've been a fan of their n° 19 for ever although it's very difficult to find it and I'm even guessing it's been taken out of production.

I wanted a scent that was not heavy ; something girly and fresh but also delicate was on my mind.
Eau Tendre in the Chance series by Chanel hits all these notes ; it's main accords are {white} floral, sweet, citrus, fresh spicy and fruity.

The pink fluid makes it a very girly bottle to look at and its organic round shape is young and refreshing.

Do you get a new fragrance for a new season and do you adapt your choice in Spring or Winter ?

Living proof ; give it to me baby !

vrijdag 26 februari 2016

As my hair has experienced decoloring overkill over these last past months, it was only a matter of time to find a great treatment that really promises all it promises to be and lives up to my {great} expectations.
I am so lucky our nearest and closest to my home hairdresser sells the Living Proof range by
Jennifer Aniston.

Going to try this for a couple of weeks and let you guys know all about it !

I'm so frilled !

dinsdag 23 februari 2016

1. Linda Tol wearing N-Duo - 2. Checkered blouse by Roseanna - 3. Miu Miu - 4. HM

Sometimes you are buying pieces and after a while you discover there's a chord why you bought these clothes so easily.
I've been a fan of frills and ruches from a very young age, think somewhere in the early 80-ies, when a young future princess appeared in the public eye. Diana was shy and so was her style back then. No décolletage or frivolity ; high neck ruffles with a victorian hint to it.
Circa 1981-1982, this young woman made us copy her hair and blouses. The style was demure and gallant, typical for ladies of her noble status.

Nowadays, you just can't imagine a lady Mary Charteris, the Duchess of Cambridge or Queen Maxima seen dressed like this. Fashion has become more audacious and accessible, even to royals, often trying to add something personal, fashion wise, when they appear in public. Don't forget pictures are seen much quicker today and public opinion is written, shared and read in a split second.
Even 'la noblesse' wants to be on trend.

So what's up with this particular frilly style, that it emerges again from the archives like for example, Marks & Spencer's, Miu Miu or HM ?
Does somebody like Alexa Chung make this style look edgy ?
I guess it does .. when you see how she matches it with her typical Alexa-schwung, it's very hard not to like it ; just like Diana in the 80-ies - who became queen of fashion after all - it's feminine, sweet and adds a bit of mystery. Often found in white or cream colors ; bright in sky blue striped versions or checkered for a more interesting look.

Personally, I can't wait for N-Duo's green and white blouse (seen on Linda Tol above) for the upcoming season or the #archivebyAlexa collection, ready to launch in April.
I admit I own a lot of frilly blouses, from Dolce & Gabbana to HM, from Vanessa Bruno to Zara, purchased over the last years and hanging in my closet, preserved adoringly.

So don't shoot me, for loving this particular garment and buying it on a repetitive base ; if somebody like it-girl Alexa loves it, I'm not so far off I guess.

Do you buy particular items on a repeatedly ? And why so ?
Let me know in the comments.

How to create the perfect eyebrow

donderdag 18 februari 2016

1. Shape

First brush your eyebrows upwards and cut hairs that are too long off with eyebrow scissors. Then at the bottom, remove hairs where necessary, on the basis of the natural shape of your eyebrow.

2. Define

Start with defining your eyebrows with pulling a line along your lower eyebrow hairs. You do this again for the upper eyebrow hairs. It accentuates the shape of your eyebrows.

3. Fill

You can fill your eyebrows using a pencil, powder or gel in a color, matching your own eyebrow color.

4. Fix it

Finally, you can always set your eyebrows with a transparent fixing gel. This ensures that your eyebrows, at the end of a busy day, are still perfect.

The products shown in this blogpost are my personal favorite brands to work on my eyebrows. Of course, many other labels offer a great selection too but these work just fine for my kind of eyebrow.

1. Oldest garment

A chain bodice by Patrizia Pepe ; I've never worn it but it keeps moving with me from closet to closet. I don't know why I ever bought it - probably because it was on sale - it's special and unique but weighs a ton and is extremely cold on bare skin.

2. Missing link

I know it sounds absurd but a tiny burgundy bag would complete my collection ; a mini square flap bag by Chanel maybe or something more edgy, think The Kooples or Zadig & Voltaire - forget black - it has to be burgundy or wine red.

3. Regret purchase

My first Hermès bag was a cognac Kelly with silver hardware ; it looks very chic and posh but it's totally not me and I can't imagine why I did not opt for a tinier black swift leather one.
Every time I see a black model of the Kelly on social media I cry a little ; it looks so much better and timeless than my personal Queen Paola one, sitting in my closet, waiting for me to turn 87.

4. Never Repeat

I'm not a hoarder and when I'm done with something i can easily sell it or give it away to friends or family.
Just like I did with those peep-toe Louboutin heels I got myself for the holidays a couple of years ago.
However, I discovered Loub's are not to walk in, they are made to please men and kill women's feet.
They were easily thrown out of my closet into a luxury second hand shop and sold right away.
I bought a nice army jacket by Zadig & Voltaire instead !

A couple of months passed by before my husband, daughter and friends noticed I never wore those Louboutins.
Red faced and a bit ashamed I admitted selling off those high heeled treasures to trade it for a rugged army green jacket.
Until today they still accuse me of betraying those shoes, being unfaithful to Mr Louboutin and not keeping them for my daughter, so she could grow into them.

I had to vow to never ever sell anything like that again without consulting my dear family.
Until today, I've kept my promise.

Of course this is not everything there's is to know about me ; maybe following my Instagram account gives a clearer view on what I'm doing, my work, my studies in between and what I wear.

Although there are many accounts on 'how real' IG-pictures are - I'd like to try and post my mood and feelings based on IRL happenings.
If the pictures are a bit more obscure, that's probably how I would feel that day. If an image is light and bright, I'm feeling pretty relaxed or even happy.
I'm trying to integrate my life and interweave feelings in all of my images ; sometimes nostalgic, even melancholic, sometimes happy and sunny.

Whatever the mood of the day is, I'm doing my best to picture it in it's most pure and beautiful form.

Tuesday Tag Inspiration

dinsdag 9 februari 2016

I tagged this picture as inspiration of the week on my IG account ; click here to follow (I follow back)

There are just too many beautiful images of Catherine Deneuve ; I've searched the internet for pictures to show how beautiful her style was in the 60-ies and 70-ies, especially her hair. Many of us remember Bardot and her iconic bow-embellished blonde hair. For me, Catherine Deneuve was and always will be a true beauty and trendsetter. Her style is - just like Jane Birkin's - timeless and ladylike. Vichy print might be ok when you're 19 or in your early 20ies ; Catherine always went for the casual chic look - never going out of fashion and even today very contemporary.
No matter what age she was.

Even today I still love her movies and presence and style.
